INTRODUCTION -

The process of coordinating organ and tissue procurement and subsequent transplantation requires the commitment of a dedicated professional group.

Transplant coordinators are employed world wide and form an essential component of this complex process.

The European Transplant Coordinators Organization (ETCO) was set up in 1983 to represent the issues of all those working as Transplant Coordinators in Europe and to promote organ and tissue donation in all member countries.

ETCO provides the ideal forum in which members can share skills and experience and work towards a comprehensive strategy to ensure that all families are offered the option  of  donation  and  maximum  organ

retrieval rates are maintained to support the transplant programs.

ETCO is committed to fostering the work of the membership in their efforts to educate both medical professionals and the general public in all aspects of organ donation and transplantation. In this way we can ensure that transplantation remains an option for all patients with end stage organ failure.
